I'm here now.  It's kinda weird.

Playing with a store laptop to kill time...

Guh?

It was kind of awkward waiting around a Wired store for him to play (although there was an open bar), but the show itself was great.  A lot of his songs work really well acoustically.  He didn't announce them, but from what I gather he played two songs from the upcoming album.  He also played "Bummer Bitch" and seemed really disgusted with the crowd, which I find hilarious and appealing.

"Do you really think touch screens will make your life better?  Remember: there are fæces on everything."

Some guy was taking high quality video, so hopefully the performance will make it's way online.

Hey, I was there too!
If I knew what you looked like I would have said what's up.

I went into it skeptically, but I ended up enjoying more than I thought I would.
The venue was weird but the open bar was fun.
I was picking up on the contempt for the crowd vibe as well. To his credit though, there were a lot of douchey looking people there. His lyrics sounded funnier over the acoustic guitar and the "Bummer Bitch" finale was great.

What if he had contempt for you?  What then??

He was really nice when I saw him in Chicago last July. He shook hands after his set! He shook my hand! I thought it was sweet. Also, no one got punched in the face, not even the drunk girl who kept bumping into me and asked Jay Reatard for a picture. (He didn't oblige her, by the way.)

I'm guessing he didn't shake every fan's hands at the Wired store??

Hey, open bar.
When they say "Open Bar," they mean a garbage can full of ice and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

from what I gather he played two songs from the upcoming album.

He just posted a demo of one of those new songs on his blog (http://jayreatard.blogspot.com/ (http://jayreatard.blogspot.com/)) if anyone is interested.

Does it sound a lot like "Bad Man" at times to anyone else, or am I crazy?

He definitely played "A Whisper" at the solo show, complete with prerecorded drum beats.

Between this and a few interviews he's done recently, it looks like the follow up to Blood Visions, which is almost done, will sound like this; sentimental shoe-gaze, almost twee, and heavily Kiwi-pop.  I'm all for it!
