I love the new Podcast Tom. GEMS!!! Do you remember when the caller suggested this idea and you either GOMP'd or Heave Ho'd him?
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!?!?!?
-
I believe Tom is still laughing now
-
I was the one who proposed it and got heaved ho.
I am only laughing because the podcast is hilarious.

Pioneers are almost always ignored or ridiculed (or sometimes even worse), Jon. Take solace in the fact that you reside alongside such historic figures as William Faulkner, James Osterberg (you probably know him as Iggy Pop), and the guy that Greg Kinnear played in that movie about windshield wipers.

I love the idea for Best Show Gems, because even though I have been listening every week for 3 years, there are still... yes... GEMS from the past I haven't had the pleasure of discovering yet.
Three years from now though I think Sully's call from a couple of weeks ago deserves inclusion. Dwayne DA ROCK Johnson's competitive strangling career cannot be denied.

love it! this is perfect for work.
-
Perfect for introducing the show to friends (as many FOT have already pointed out). I added the podcast to my "play-in-car-while-running-to-the-store" playlist...we get in the car, I casually turn the playlist on. Wurster deftly floats through the speakers, and by the time we get to Starbucks my friend is hooked.

It's perfect just as a "random" oh yeah! We end up taking for granted how MANY of these Gems there are that it's either a great trip down memory lane or a "oh wow" moment. I remember catching up when I first started listening and discovering characters like Brimstead or the Party Dr.

This week's Gems is a personal favorite of mine. Larry Smirthwaite!
-
The Ryan Adams Unfair Record Review is my favorite gem thus far.
-
Mine too.
And I kind of like his stuff. Never bought any though.
Whiskey Town were quite good.
-
The ripping apart of Ryan Adams was one of the funniest things I've ever heard. And I'm even a fan.
-
Indeed. I don't know how I missed that one in my exhaustive archives catching up, but amazing. ALL PRAISE TO TOM AND MARTIN.
-
I also liked the Ryan Adams review... today I just noticed Ryan Adams covered Superchunk on Score! 20 Years Of Merge Records The Covers!... coincidence? or is that why it's now titled an "unfair" record review.
