*drool runs down chin*

Wouldn't it be awesome to organize a bookstore-road-trip? Some of these are in Europe, so there would be a little more in-depth traveling involved. Hm, adding that to my "Things to Do Today" list.

I saw this library porn site someplace else, and while some of these places are pretty ridiculously ornate and maybe overdecorated by the standards of modern design, I gotta say, it was good for me.

:) I joined the forum shortly after my very first call, and since Tom made mention [in that call] of "green stamps" in GA, I thought "g-stampgirl" fit. I think it is kinda cheesy now, but it has served the purpose well.

I am pretty in love with the bookstore in Montclair, NJ.  I think it ranks right up there.  I could not find any pictures online of the interior, but it is narrow and infinitely deep, with tall rows of rickety wooden shelves, new and second-hand books, and very friendly, helpful employees.

I like that bookstore, too. For the most part I prefer used bookstores with unending piles of random weirdness to even the best new bookstores. One exception I might make is the Rizzoli store in manhattan, which is piles of new weirdness.

There is some kind of punk rock librarian porn out there, though, right?

The Book Loft in Columbus, OH is cool. Sorry for the poor photo quality but these were all I could find:

Jon: I also love the Montclair Book Center, and worked there in 1990 -- it's where I first discovered WFMU, as well as a lot of other awesome and now-kinda-cheesy 80s/90s underground stuff.

I petted this cat on a visit to SF a couple of years ago:

And, this was taken here (http://www.newyorker.com/talk/2008/06/02/080602ta_talk_marx).

Yes, it's an incredibly awesome bookstore, yes, I'm bragging, and no, no one outside of this thread would or should give a shit.  But I will give you an invite if you PM me (and I actually know you -- sorry, Spike). Maybe I'll even accompany you.
