Title: Petition to bring back the GOMP

Hey Tom.

I don't really know what to say to eloquently introduce this topic.  I'm listening to the podcast right now and you heave ho'd the intern at Pixar.  I was just thinking how much more fulfilling a GOMP would have been.

Maybe any other FOT could reply here saying "bring back the GOMP" or they could just tell me to get off the internet.

Anyhow, The Best Show keeps me from committing atrocious acts on a daily basis.  Just kidding.

Heave-Ho is just fine and GOMP will always live in the archives.

I agree with this, I personally like both. Not to get philosophical, but I think the beauty is the dismissal, and I think theres a wide range of things Tom could say that would be hilarious. Of course I love the GOMP and it is definitely a classic, but heave-ho has that kind of 1-2 punch feeling.

I don't think I'll join a campaign to bring a return the GOMP. The Heave-Ho is already a modern classic, but I do suspect that an unexpected GOMP for an extra-terrible call one day would be epic.

The beauty of the Heave Ho is the flexibility - quiet sometimes, loud sometimes, defiant, angry, defeated, confused. It's the hang-up version of the "wait whaaat", it's a more nuanced GOMP, which is fitting for the times. It's grown-up days.

And yes, I'm also partial to You're A Ghost, but the rarity is the beauty.

During the Newbridge debate show Tom mentions that he likes Heave Ho better than GOMP, ever since then the GOMP has been almost taboo.

Heave Ho stinks, GOMP for life.

I have my houseboy edit out all the Heave Ho's and replace them with angry Captain Jack GOMPs before I will even LISTEN to the podcast.

In his interview on Am I Right?? from March, he said that GOMP had been "pretty much replaced" by Heave Ho, or something to that effect...

Thought heave ho would have a siren sound. Maybe it never worked.
