I have heard from some FOTs on Twitter: there will be a meetup before the PFT show on July 30th in Chicago. Sara From Chicago has planned a meetup at the Hungry Brain since it's so close to Beat Kitchen; like her, I am going to the late show, but I'm sure some might be going to the early show too.
Who else is going on July 30th? AND WHERE CAN WE MEET YOU?
-
I can meet up before the early show or after the late show.
-
I echo my social secretary as I plan to attend both. Who's going to Comedy Death Ray either night?
-
Anyone going to Superchunk on Sunday?

Anyone going to Superchunk on Sunday?
Wow that snuck up quick. Thanks for the reminder. I will likely be in attendance.
-
Dan Telfer's opening. Check his stuff out.
I'll be here instead of going to the meetup: http://www.printersball.org/
(I promised. And made robots.)

Hello, friends!
Thanks for starting this thread, Bernard.
Yes, my husband Tom and I will be at the Hungry Brain (2319 W. Belmont) before the later show--maybe around 8? We could meet up over there after the later show as well, if no one minds a very late night. The Hungry Brain is cash only, so visit the ATM first! I'm very excited about this show and about seeing all of you!
-
I'd be interested in anything after the late show.
-
I'm in for a pre-late show meet-up; I don't want to commit to an after show meet-up and then not show. I'd like to try and say Hi to PFT after the show as well. So, yeah, I'm diggity-down for an 8 or so meet-up at the Brain.
I'll probably have some piece of FMU garb on.
-
I probably won't leave in between shows so let me know if you want us to meet up before the early one or after the late one.
Is everyone in seated section? I can see if I can scam some seats by us for those just attending the final one. No guarantees but I'll definitely try if people let me know.
-
Amendment: I just realized that Friday is the day my rescue dog arrives. I'm not sure I want to leave her alone for that long so I may be either giving away one of my tix or tucking in and out super quickly. Let me know if you know anyone who needs a spare
-
you can count me in for the hungry brain before the late show as well as any late night shenanigans. looking forward to it!
-
I don't think we'll be there before the early show... I don't want to already be drunk before the show starts, ha ha. Those of us who have seated tickets should definitely try to sit together. BTOF, if you only do one, it should be the late show (in my opinion) (so we can sit together) (also I am so excited about your new dog).
Pat and Bernard, we'll see you guys there before the show then, if not after. Bernard, will Mrs. Bernard be joining you?
I definitely want to try to talk to PFT afterward. We met him last time he was in Chicago and talked about the Best Show with him and that was pretty awesome.
-
Yes, Mrs. Bernard will be in attendance for this meetup, as will two other friends of mine.
BTOF - If we don't meet up, congrats on the new doggie. Hopefully you can make it out of the house for the show!
-
The food at the Beat Kitchen is very good for bar food, if you have time to eat before/tween shows at the front bar. I am a vegetarian and I often partake in their portobello sandwich or homemade veggieburger. May I also recommend the Dragon's Milk beer, which tastes like a Cadbury Carmel bar haunted by a high-alcohol content ghost.
-
Whoa, surprise Dan Telfer up in this thread!
If you guys haven't seen him perform, you're in for a treat! And if you have, you're also in for a treat! Win-win!
-
Also he's right about the beer.
-
I'm so conflicted! All my non FOT friends are going to the early show and all you guys are going to the late one. You all make me want to be a terrible first night pet owner.
-
If it helps anyone decide, the late show is completely sold out and there are only a handful left for the early show.
-
Neat! Welcome to the board, Dan.
Everyone else: Dan Telfer is hilarious - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vSY_rB928c (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vSY_rB928c)
-
Thanks very much, Barry! I've been haunting this place quietly for a long time.
All tickets are now sold out, so if anyone still needs tickets for any of the shows, check the wall of the PFT300 Chicago Facebook group.

Beat Kitchen question:
How's parking in the area? I don't usually get that far west on Belmont.
-
It shouldn't be too bad; most of the parking on Belmont around there is free. Most everything on the side streets is permit, esp. after 6p. I would think you could find a good spot within a few blocks.
-
I guess I'll be at the early show! I managed to purchase a ticket in time. Weeee!
I'm wearing my WFMU shirt, like a dork.
-
I just got back from the early show. PFT in real life looks like Kevin Klein playing a badger dressed up as Gatsby. Great show and nice to experience comedy not at my computer.
-
It was awesome to meet so many of you guys.
I am still up because some crazzy thunder almost made me pee myself.
-
This was one of the most fun things EVER. Two pictures:

L to R: JBissell, Dan Telfer, me, Bernard, my-husband-who-doesn't-post-on-here-Tom, Clay, and a guy who ran up when he heard we were taking an FOT picture. That guy, I didn't get your name! I'm sorry, but if you read this, could you tell us?

What is that on Paul's jacket? Why, it's a Twitter Verified Account badge that I made! I sewed it out of felt and I think it came out quite cute.
I apologize for the cross-post from Twitter for those of you that follow me. But I figured others would want to see!
In closing: THE BEST! FOT for life!
-
HA! I LOVE the Twitter badge. Brilliant idea.
-
Thank you! I was very proud of it. ;D

Thank you! I was very proud of it. ;D
It is awesome. As was all of last night.
-
Thanks for posting, Sara! Dan and Paul couldn't have been nicer. The whole night was a blast.
-
I love the badge.
There should be best show patches, like the girl scouts.
-
Thank you, Auntie Christina!
When we get an official Best Show logo, I would love to make some badges! That would be so fun.
(I make and sell cat-face ones in my Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/heypaiscomics), by the way, if anyone likes that kind of thing.)
-
I went to the early show and, though I missed meeting FOTs, I had a great time with front row seats (thats right I'm bragging) and I got the chance to tell PFT he's my favorite comedianne.
-
I was at the early show, too. That was my first time seeing Mr. Tompkins and it was terrifically funny. And, as many have said, he's a very, very nice person off stage, as well.
Thanks to Dan for arranging the Facebook 300 group, hilariously opening the shows and, I assume, helping to organize the venue, etc. Well done, sir!
-
Thanks for all the kind words, guys. Obviously I was very lucky that Paul invited me to open. And have Dame Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber introduce me in the second show!
I did help with the venue. I run Chicago Underground Comedy on Tuesday nights there, and the venue staff were huge PFT fans so I tried to get everyone to do business with each other. I'm glad it worked out! I passed a lot of venues on to PFT and his manager and I'm happy everything went so smoothly. That night I got to relax as the Beat Kitchen took care of everything.
