Post by: Greggulator on March 14, 2011, 11:35:28 PM
Former professional wrestler/right-wing political pundit The Ultimate Warrior has now expanded his horizons into fine art!

"I use oils and my only tool is a knife."

He can also be commissioned.

He also has a workout kit thing he's hawking on his website for $150 but this includes a personalized 10-inute "high-energy" phone call just in case anyone is ever looking to buy me anything.

I just inquired about commissioning a portrait. We'll see if this leads anywhere.

It's very rare that artwork (particularly portraiture) makes me feel physically ill. So kudos to the Ultimate Warrior, I guess. He has elicited a visceral response from me.

I'll wait until Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake releases his sculptures.

A response!

Dear Gregg:

Thanks for being a fan. I appreciate that you were. It was great and inspiring time for all of us. The experiences, lessons, and memories of it all still inspire me today to get everything thing I can out of my life and live with intensity.

I do commissions, yes.

The price would depend on the size and whether you wanted an ink and watercolor piece or a knife/oil piece.

Let me know.

Thanks for your inquiry.

Always Believe,

Warrior

Just my opinion: you should see if he'll do a painting of his wrestling persona when he was being locked in a casket by the undertaker and Paul bearer.

I asked him if he could do a watercolor piece of my wife, our dog and I to place on top of the mantle in our apartment. He also talked on his website about how he used "bold" colors and I said that I wanted something bold. Trying to get an estimate.

Also: his e-mail address comes up as "Mr Warrior" in the inbox.

Wasn't there more than one Ultimate Warrior?

How could there be?

I seem to remember something like the original guy was too messed up on pain killers or died or something, and they just replaced him with a different similar-looking guy.

There was only one Ultimate Warrior. He was at one point called The Dingo Warrior in another promotion before going to the WWF.

WCW was trying to sign The Ultimate Warrior when he wasn't with the WWF (since he's obviously a legitimate lunatic) for one of their pay-per-views. They couldn't get the deal done so they found some wrestler who kind of looked like him, dressed him up, and named him Renegade. The crowd saw right through it and booed him off the stage.

Renegade ended up killing himself a few years after WCW dumped him.

I vaguely remember someone in the chat, or on the forum, mentioning an urban legend they heard as a kid about the Ultimate Warrior dying and being replaced by someone that looked like him. That had to have been a twisted/exaggerated take on what you say happened.

Gregg, hello.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure 5' by 5' would work...I would have to see the image of what you would like done. If the image works for an exact square, we could go with it, but, usually, this is not the case. A more rectangular canvas might work better.

I also need to see the image to know if watercolors would work over the oils, especially at that size. You won;t find too many watercolor portraits at that size because the intensity of watercolors, at that size, does not match the intensity and richness you can get out of oils -- and with the way I use my knife, a portrait at that size would EXPLODE off the canvas, I can promise you that.

The price for something that size would not be cheap, no less than a few thousand dollars, probably even more. I can know from looking at the image. My 42 x70 INCH oil/knife portrait canvases sale for between 5K and 10K..

Let me know.

Always Believe,

Warrior

Why the emphasis on "INCH"?  42 x 70 INCH as opposed to what?

I'm thinking of starting a Kickstarter thing to fund this project. Would you give?

I would contribute to a 42 x 70 FOOT portrait, if only to keep him from producing any other art for awhile.
