Wallace is such a smug creep.

How can Stewart say Wallace is a fair interviewer, when he is being cut off at every point.

Because if you don't flatter these guys it'll go even worse.

Stewart is a hero for not losing his cool in situations like this.

I think some credit has to be given to Wallace and O'Reilly for having him on.  They know he's deft in these kinds of situations and they're not, in their own minds I'm sure, going to get a clear victory.  Think of the Daily Show targets on Fox who would never dream of inviting him to a debate.

Here's Jon's addendum:

Just watching it again. What is with the weird power-game at the beginning. Are you that desperate that you need to: a)Lead in by basically implying that Stewart is a coward. b)Make him drink out of the mug with the "fair and balanced"-slogan as some phantasmagorical token of acceptance of that mantra.

Thank you for posting this.  Jon is brilliant here, as usual, and I wouldn't have seen this otherwise.  This is great.  I don't know much/anything about Wallace, but just seeing this compared to O"Reilly or Beck makes him seem like a decent guy and a good interviewer, which is scary.  The stuff he said to lead off the interview is ridiculous, but he does allow Jon to speak, and actually hears what he has to say, more than those others would.  I'm sure that got worked out in editing though.

Yeah, reading that back, it was a bit clunky.
