did anyone get the download link to work? I received an email after my order saying it was in my account in numerogroup. It's not a big deal, I'm patient, I just wanted to know if I was doing something dumb (which is a semi-regular thing as it is)

Based on the note on the main page that MP3 and FLACs are priced separately, I assume that the download link and associated email are automatic, since they do not apply for this purchase.
I suspect that's an email that's automatically sent anytime someone orders something from them. This set is a departure in that regard as the mp3s will be on a thumb drive instead of being downloaded directly off the Numero site.

The bottom of the box set description says: "Please note: this release does not include an audio download."

Thanks! I cannot tell you how excited I was when Tom asked me to participate in this project. Crazy thing was that a week after I agreed to do it (no brainer, 'natch) I coincidentally met Tom face to face for the first time at a Nathan Fielder show just a mile from where I live.
The map ended up being about 1000x more work than I had anticipated but it was well worth it - the whole box is gonna be amazing. Now I totally understand Tom when he mentions how he's been working for 48 hrs. straight, pulling all nighters, etc.
I quit commercial illustration after about a year because I hated it so much. Occasionally I do something for fun projects - but only like once or twice a year. Working with these guys was probably the best "illustration" experience I've ever had. STOKED!!

Bought the day it was announced. As others have said, we've been waiting for an opportunity to thank Tom with our dollars and, just like him, he goes overboard making it worth our while. Really excited about the book and the commentary by Tom and Jon on all the calls
If I had any gripe, and it's small, I wish the stuff that already was on the CD's sold by Stereolaffs wasn't on it because now it's like I've bought them twice. I totally get it, though, he wants the best stuff on there and the percentage of fans that previously bought them is likely small. He's putting this out for the world, not just the core fans.

Yeah, if they're trying to fit as much stuff as possible onto 16 CDs, they'll have to trim a bit. Not to mention a USB drive with 4 MORE HOURS of stuff. They're giving a lot away for that amount of money, edited or not.

That's a shame about the DeBetto call. I miss hearing him describe that moozarella.

The Numero Group writeup mentions that "(over 50 of them previously unreleased or unaired)" which confuses me. Does "unreleased" mean "not on the Stereolaffs CDs"? I'd expect that everything (except perhaps some random new material recorded in the last year to spice things up) would have been previously aired.

I am super-psyched about this box set - everything about it looks to be top-notch and what a value!
Does anyone know what impact this might have on the WFMU archives? Will they pull these shows as they did with the shows containing the Stereolaffs-released material? While the calls are the best part of the show, there is so much amazing stuff to be found listening to the shows in their entirety. I hope this doesn't get lost.

Thanks for the update, boss. Been checking out your appearances on other shows pre-Best Show resurrection and I appreciate the hard work you (and Jon) put and continue to put into the show. That backgound information adds another level of respect for your work. Sorry if my writings do not reflect that. I'll keep an eye on that in the future. Are you sick to the back of your teeth of people needlessly adding "going (or moving) foreward" to a sentence? Every time I hear that, my thoughts get punchy.

Yes. I can say that Jon and I are bummed by this to say the least but it couldn't be more out of our hands. But everyone who pre-ordered will get their box as soon as humanly possible.

We've got great news for you! After a slight delay at sea, the Best of the Best Show box set has made its way from China, cleared through the ports of Los Angeles and made its way onto a truck headed to our main distribution hub in Bloomington Indiana. From there, thousands of copies will be loaded onto another freight truck headed to the Numero Headquarters in Chicago. Using satellite spy technology and up to the minute tracking information, we have deduced that the box sets should be here at Numero by either Monday the 16th or Tuesday the 17th.
You may have received an email stating that your Best of the Best Show box set has shipped. As pre-order customer, we don't have to tell you how excited everyone is about this release. It's going to take our shipping department 2-3 days just to print out the postage for everything, and that doesn't even include the time it's going to take our small army of diligent helpers to actually put your box set into its well cushioned mailing carton. What all that means, is that you may not see exact tracking details until mid next week, but rest assured...your package will be headed your way as soon as we can possibly get it to you. We've got USPS workers on stand by to get your package into their system as soon as the packing tape dries.
Many of you who pre-ordered your set before Christmas, may have already received your portion of Jon Wurster’s smashed telephone that he used to make the Rock, Rot & Rule phone call, along with a tiny letter of authenticity.
