Tom Writing Comics
« on: February 21, 2016, 04:36:40 PM »
In the chat the other day I was made aware of Tom scripting part of Valiant's Unity finale (a comic which I plan to buy sometime this weekend if I can find it). Even before knowing that I always thought Tom should be writing comics, but I wanted to ask what characters you think he would write well.

In my head, I've always thought he would write the hell out of a high school or college era Spider-Man. Super smart, super capable guy who cannot catch a break thanks to the mutants in the his life and the literal mutants that he some times fights.
Wailin' the eff outta that vibraslap!

I could see him doing someone like Animal Man (depending on the era): kind of a sad sack superhero with a good heart and obvious connection to the animal world. Also factor in Tom's showbiz experience and penchant for satire and you might be cooking with gas. Would not be as serious as the most recent run in the New 52 (which was great, BTW).

Also - squirrel girl spinoff starring Gary (it writes itself!)

-basketball themed sports noir thriller similar to Ringside (check that out, it's great).

-Really, any street level figure like Luke Cage or Iron Fist would be great. He already likes those and working on a small scale city level would be a good opportunity to just let that internal New Bridge energy flow onto the pages. Like Matt Fraction's Hawkeye.
So it goes.
