Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis
« on: August 01, 2007, 10:34:26 PM »
Its not too far from my house but so far I have heard from quite a few friends that they are ok.  I am and was not near it at all. I thought about heading that way to go record shopping and glad that I was too tired to consider it.  This is a major road and the pictures are completely nuts.

I'm lucky I live 2 miles north of the bridge rather than 2 miles south. I was on 35W when the bridge collapsed.

I'm so glad you two are all right. Gilly, you were on the bridge when it collapsed? That's crazy.

I think Gilly was on the same Interstate as the bridge is on when it collapsed, so down the road a bit.

I will actually be visiting friends in Minneapolis next week - I guess I'm going to have to go get a look at the bridge.  They live about a mile from it.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Erika, I think you should show the REAL reason the bridge collapsed: Your giant cat sat on it.

Personally, sploops, I'd give it a few more weeks.  What are you, a stockbroker?

It's a good thing that it seems like this won't be as bad as first thought. Still tragic, but most people were expecting much worse. One of my good friends works at the Hennepin County morgue. I haven't talked to him yet, but that had to have been rough. He's worked there for a couple years so he's probably used to it to some extent. I don't think I could ever get used to that.

On a lighter note, traffic was not that bad today which was quite surprising. A lot of that traffic from 35W was diverted on to the road I always take to work so I was expecting it to be bad but it wasn't. Once school gets going again at the U, I think it will be pretty crappy.
