Possible Marathon Prize: Steampipe Alley?
« on: November 11, 2009, 09:35:45 AM »
Tom -

While digging through my vast and dusty VHS archives last night, looking for something, I rediscovered that I have at least 2 episodes of Steampipe Alley on tape. I haven't examined the tapes just yet, so I'm not sure of the quality. However, I think the "historic" quality of these shows outweighs any deficiencies in video quality, and I can digitize them/burn them to DVD relatively quickly at home.

Since you've discussed the ridiculousness of Steampipe Alley on the show more than once, my question is twofold:

1) Do you have any interest in seeing these again?

2) Do you think any listeners would have any interest in these being given out as bonus marathon prizes for pledging during your show next Tuesday? (Not that anyone should need extra inducement, what with the awesome swag you're giving out, but I know that you and other shows often give out donated CDs, DVDs, etc.)

And of course, if any non-Toms want to give their opinion on the wisdom/worth of this chapter in Mario Cantone's storied career, please chime in.

All vintage M. Cantone material should be distributed far and wide in my opinion.

Yah, me too. I think he's funny.
Remember how he couldn't stop his leg?

Well, if Tom doesn't want it as a Marathon thingy, I'll see what I can do about getting it out there in YouTube fashion or something similar.

I think Mr. Cantone should come down for the marathon. He could do his Joan Crawford impression every time someone makes a mouse pledge.
It ain't ego, it's my love for you.

Spiders Primavera!

Seriously, my grandparents got WOR (why I have no idea), and I saw bits and pieces of this show.  When he showed up in Sex and the City, I was like, there's that weird dude from Steampipe Alley.

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

How about some old episodes of The Joe Franklin Show? Perhaps Russ Salzberg would be willing to part with some of his sweaters.

Oh man, if I had any Joe Franklin on tape, that would be up online yesterday.

As for Russ Salzberg, that guy thoroughly embarrassed himself during the Yankees parade coverage. He's dead to me.
