I can't remember, is it OK for me to...
« on: August 08, 2010, 12:38:59 PM »
be kinda enjoying the Marc Maron WTF podcasts (I know, the title is really imaginative) ??

I have never heard more revealing, f'd up interviews (with comedians or otherwise) than the bunch of his I took on vacation in July.

I know he's got the toilet mouth, and I really only know about him through the podcast and a couple of youtube videos of his standup... a quick search of the FOT forum here (with only three mentions of the guy, all in the same thread) tells me he's prooooobably not a FOT.

Have I just pooped in the proverbial punch bowl by asking this?

"Is this me?"

I'm a big Maron/WTF fan myself.  If that's wrong, then I don't wanna be right.

I am with you. I enjoy it. I talked to Kyle Kinane briefly last night, and mentioned that I mainly knew him through the Maron podcast, and he said that for some reason when he appeared on a bill with Maron, Maron's fans just really seemed to dislike him, which seemed odd to him. For people that don't remember, he's the guy who took Maron to see Avatar.

There are plenty of Maron fans and detractors around here. FOT's are still allowed to have their own opinions. So enjoy it guilt free. Like fat free jello or something.

This is one of my top podcasts, even with the recent Patrice O'Neal nightmarecast. I like Maron, I'm not a huge fan like I am with Patton or Loius CK, but he does a really good job with the podcast.

Unless you add mayonnaise to it, yes.

But is it hoof and snout free?

I'd never heard of that guy, but I only made it halfway through the interview before shutting it off and moving on, something I've never done with any of the WTF podcasts. Does it get worse as it goes on?

I've heard many negative things about the Patrice O'Neal WTF episode.  What does he say exactly?

All I recall is the guy talking incessantly, giving nonsensical anecdotes about women and relationships and none of it was funny.

Just wait til you get like 50 minutes into the thing. Let's just say you might like him even less after that little 'story'.
