I know, it's kind of silly. I like shopping at the pet food store I do, though. During the big China Is Poisoning Our Pets Debacle, they posted a sign on their door indicating that none of products were contaminated or recalled. It's worth paying an extra $1.25 per can if I know I'm taking care of my cats. Also, the first ingredient in their dry food is organic free range chicken. In pretty much every other dry food you'll find in a Petco or equivalent, the first ingredient is corn meal. Strangely enough, the fancy dry food is pretty much the same price as that Science Diet crap.

My cats definitely had more energy and were more playful after I made the switch from Science Diet to Merrick and... I forget the name of the dry food, but it comes in a purple bag. Anyway, they love it, and they're happier cats. They'd probably be happier if I had the resources and time to make homemade cat food for them like Sarah does for her cats and dogs, but I don't. So they get to eat the Whole Foods equivalent of cat food.

This thread saved me last night.

I had a piece of salmon with dill I bought last Sunday at Target.  It smelled kinda funny, but I thought that was the dill.  So I put it in the Ziploc Steam bag to cook it (I highly, highly recommend Ziploc Steam bags for you bachelors and bachelorettes).  It still smelled funny.  I remembered this thread and I threw it out.

I'm pretty sure I would be dead right now if I hadn't.  Best Show wins again.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

“Fish and guests in three days are stale.”  Although in a chowder fish will last longer.  Guests, no.

nah, I give my cats dry food that's not that expensive where the first ingredient is Turkey. But it's also got turkey meal in it and other not-so-good stuff... sometimes i buy this mix that you mix with raw or cooked ground turkey and it makes it into tasty kitty food. They kinda like that. But my Nico kitty really likes the occasional shred (single shred because I know it's bad for them) of cheddar. She begs me for it and I oblige.

we have one cat who is like a garbage dumpster.  she was a stray and she will put away anything you're willing to offer.

our other cat will eat meat, but only in the form of canned cat food.  she turns her nose up at any real meat, but loves potatoes, celery, popcorn, bread, basically anything but meat. unless you count crickets as meat.  she also loves crickets.

That's how Nico is. She even enjoys the occasional Wheat Thin.

Sasha occasionally tries to eat her own tufts of hair that gather on the carpet. She also has an affinity to rubber things that can choke and kill her.

we have to be extremely carfeul with Sprinkles and rubber bands.  She loves to play with them so much, but she also loves to eat them.  I've taken to bringing home these huge, wide rubber bands that we use to roll up blueprints.

Yeah, I will occasionally find rubber band fragments in the litter box.  Fun!

Both of my cats are rescues and have become pickier eaters by the day, though I found out by accident that one of them actually likes matzo.  I've been thinking of having him bar mitzvahed.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Our male cat tends to develop crystals in his bladder due to the ash content of most commercially available cat foods, so we have to buy this special (read: expensive) food from the vet's office for him. And since all four of them eat together, they all get it. It's kind of a bite, but them seem to enjoy it and they do all have very luxurious coats as a result.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Sparkles will eat anything, but we had her on adult hairball formula because of hairball issues

Then we got Sprinkles and had to put down kitten food.  Sparkles ate the kitten food, Sprinkles ate the hairball food.  Sparkles put on about 4 pounds (she started out at about 7) and Sprinkles grew slowly (she was the runt of the litter anyway)

Now my wife puts out hairball formula and some cheap shit.  She always told me the expensive stuff was being eaten by Sparkles (my cat) and the cheap stuff was being eaten by Sprinkles (her cat)

I've caught Sprinkles eating the expensive stuff quite a few times recently.

I mentioned this bar mitzvah idea to my wife, who is a shiksa, and she's really into it.  I could just imagine the little critters with yarmulkes and tallises - possibly the only thing even more uncomfortable-looking than an actual 13-year-old boy in the same getup.

When they dress like that and can read from the Torah, then a gift I'll bring.

It still scares me that Mr. Junk hasn't replied since my last post. You okay, John?

I'm still here.  Nothing happened with the wing, but I'm sure I would've been in trouble had I eaten any more of it.  I just didn't want to be wasteful because the whole point of buying that chicken that I promptly forgot about was to eat it throughout the first 3-4 day period and save a little money on lunch.  There's this mini-fridge in my office that I use for NOTHING and I wanted to employ it, but I'm just not in the habit of acknowledging that it exists.  It just sits there, emitting greenhouse gases all day (insert "gases" joke regarding old chicken).
