It's a pretty different crowd from WFMU's regular listeners - mostly older Orthodox and Conservative Jews, as I understand it. I don't know when the split happened - I remember, back in 1990, when I discovered WFMU, the crowd of Jersey mutants and proto-hipsters I idolized were just as enthusiastic about JM in the AM as any other WFMU show, but it was more like camp - as in, who except for us hyper-ironists in love with cultural detritus would like this stuff? Observant Jews, As it turns out.
