Then again, picking Cheap Trick as the best band from IL is a little like saying Heart was the best band from WA.

This is definitely a punk-friendly list.  Which I'm totally okay with.  I'll never own a Cheap Trick album, gonna be honest.

From this statement, one can only conclude you have never heard their debut.  There's a reason Black Flag covered them.

What Cheap Trick song did Black Flag cover? I'd like to hear that. Or are you talking about the Big Black cover of He's a Whore?
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Best band from NJ comes down to Misfits vs Four Seasons?

MOTHER 13!
Then they came for stew, and I did nothing.

Illinois:

All-Time Best Band: Big Black

Okay, who was in charge of this list?  They don't suck.

I'm thinking of a phrase that begins with Cheap and ends with Trick.

i'm just thankful it didn't start with smashing and end with pumpkins.

I'm sad* that ZZ Top are not mentioned in the Texas results. I guess I can't be too upset about the 13th Floor Elevators winning (and I'm sure Billy Gibbons would second their nomination), but still.

* - OK, "sad" is overstating it. "Mildly inconvenienced" might be more appropriate.

Freudian slip.  Original post fixed.

I've met and worked with both Cheap Trick and Steve Albini.  Albini would probably be amongst the first to ridicule the list, if I guessed anything at all.  And then maybe he'd ridicule me for dismissing interest in Cheap Trick.    ;)
