Noise for Obama
« on: September 19, 2008, 10:45:59 AM »
In case anyone was wondering where they stood on political issues, the "underground/DIY/noise arts" community is behind Obama  -

http://deathbombarc.com/noiseforobama/intro.htm

They are taking artist statements from members of Black Pus, Foot Village, Tripp Nasty (Harmonium Player and Accountant) and others.

For a minute there I thought I was in the "Why the Dems Might Lose" thread.

I don't know what I'll enjoy more:

(1) Obama winning

(2) The cool underground people who support him being let down by an Obama presidency that fails to abolish corporations and legalize heroin

I can see them at the acceptance speech, slumped in the back of the room, arms folded, eyes rolling, thinking "oh man, he was cool when I first saw that basement speech a few years ago, but he's just really lost track of his political art since he became president"

They'll just go back to dabbling in fascist imagery is all.

All will be fine.

fascist imagery

Like this?

Seriously, I hope the "dear leader" stuff stops if the guy gets elected.  Obama's is the only campaign I've actually done work for, but some of the supporters creep me out.

Close... but not quite ominous enough for the noise crowd.  Easily adapted by swapping one (but not both) of the words in favor of something that would be controversial if it ever managed to actually claw its way out of the noise community.

Some of these Obamaheads seem to not want their horse to have a chance. Come on guys, winning will be good for a change, cut the crap.

I'm all for fascist imagery, actually.  Laibach rules!
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I'm leaning towards Obama, but I'm waiting for these guys to make an official endorsement ...

It's very powerful.  Besides, if Bowie went there, it's virtually impossible for others not to follow.

I love FoTs so much.

If I'd posted this on the other 90% of sites I visit, the comments would be: "What's funny about that?", "What, you don't like Obama?", "What, you don't like DIY?", and, "Don't you think it's a hate crime to make fun of [either]?".

The FoT forum is truly a safe haven.
