Dear Tom,

As per US Magazine:

Lauren Conrad, The Hills star, 22, has signed a three-book deal with HarperCollins Publishers to pen a young adult fiction series.

Titled L.A. Candy, the series tells "the behind-the scenes story of a young girl who moves to L.A. and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show," according to a release.

Following this model, you will need to first pitch a reality show. I suggest documenting your adventures chaperoning your mutant listeners (you know, the sensational stuff). Then write a book about it.

As for The Best Show Reality Show synopsis: it would be akin to American Movie, where the viewer is unsure what is real and what isn’t, and would be populated by a blend of fictional and real life characters.  For example, PBR, Julie from Cincinnati, various Newbridge Mayubernatorial candidates, Spike, AP Mike and James.  The concurrent theme from show to show: real life is more absurd and disturbing than anything created, and sometimes it’s difficult to tell where the two meet.

Eh?

Sincerely,

10-Speed

P.S. Didn’t 7-Second Delay have a reality show that ran on PBS a long time ago?   This was back when reality shows were known as documentaries.

P.P.S.  Is the Fan Fiction board still on ice until the World Domination Scheme is over?

I think the real message in this story is that if you want a book deal with a major publishing house, the first thing you need to do is get into bikini shape.

Also, the early word is that Lauren Conrad has a real ear for gritty dialog, a poet's gift of metaphor, and an uncompromising worldview that lends heft and immediacy to every sentence.  And rockin' abs.
