Dear Tom,

Would you please consider adding three more stars under your name so that you have a nice rectangle of stars? I am really bothered by the three stars that look like they are missing. You deserve at least three more stars, too, because you are the best radio show host ever.

Respectfully Yours,

Julie

Consider this seconded. Symmetry first.

I, too, am a fan of symmetry, but I think it would be a mistake here.  The missing stars call one's attention to the total number; a block would be more or less invisible.

I think of how many stars Tom doesn't have and how many more he should have. He deserves them. Maybe the unbalanced stars are meant to draw attention to how underappreciated the host feels. Maybe even they're a cry for help! Not only in the interest of symmetry, but also in the interest of Tom's mental health, his stars should be balanced. Even from a selfish point of view, you really don't want Tom to go over the edge. What if he really does lose it and decides to run off to Montana, live in the wilderness, and write spiritual novels about his imaginary conversations with the great spirit? We'd all lose then.

If this is what 3 extra stars is preventing, I say: leave the stars as-is.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

Ever noice that with his current star configuration, his first sentence looks like its being blown out of a gun.  If there are more sentences and they line up right, it looks like one of those ACME joke bang guns a little.
