Multi sports league?
« on: February 12, 2009, 12:24:50 PM »
I enjoy playing sports but I never do, because I don't like the people that get way, way too into it.  I hated sports when I was on active duty in the military and these dudes got way obsessed.  But I'm a pretty solid, for example, softball player when you line me up next to the other dweebs in law school.

Are there leagues where the same teams, or same set of guys, play a wider mix of sports?  I'm not talking seasons.  More like a different sport every few weeks.  I would love to have a chance to play all kinds of crazy sports besides ultimate frisbee and softball and so on.  For instance, I've always wanted to play lacrosse, field hockey, and so on.  Why not?

I don't know of any but that does sound like a blast - field hockey, lacrosse, whatever; just like middles school gym class with out the bullies or jerks (hopefully).  I would start my own thing here if it weren't too difficult to get the necessary array of equipment, and find enough people.  I guess the varying number of starters per sport might be a problem too, but there could just be more matches or games and subteams for basketball than their would be for football.
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

The main problem I see is everyone totally sucking at everything.  So it might be best to limit the field to a number of sports that people kind of know, and to avoid pain-causing sports like rugby.

Those brooklyn mutants may be on to something with hardcourt bike polo, also.

I apologize for saying "and so on" excessively in my post above.

Bocce, bowling, horseshoes, ultimate frisbee, basketball, soccer, stuff like that work.  But I guess for that I wouldn't really need a league, just actual friends.  Everone sucking at everything would be better than some people sucking and some dominating.

Then again with most of the sports I listed I might as well just hang out at a local bar and call dibs on the next foosball, darts, or pool game.

I still like your idea a lot though, cause getting outside would be good!
