Minneapolis/St. Paul FOTs in bands or friends with bands
« on: January 24, 2009, 02:02:32 AM »
So ... one of my bands will be playing in St. Paul early March. The band we were supposed to play with from there just cancelled so we were wanting to find a good band to play with.

Anyone want to play with us on March 13th? PM me if ya wants!

[Sorry to use this forum for such a thing but I'm sick of drudging through MySpace - I like y'alls and I want to meet you]

It's the "Pharmacy Spirits" link in my signature ....

Again, sooooo sorry for using this forum for such purposes. We just have some scheduling to do, like, asap.

We love you.

I'm way out of the loop these days on the MN music scene and all of my friends bands are long gone. What venue in St. Paul? Turf Club?

I sent a tweet to a cool fellow and FOT who might be able to help you out. Can't speak for him, but best of luck to you and your band!

PS: Are Vampire Hands still playing? I saw them when I was in town two years ago or so at Turf Club (I think -- it was the place with the nice bartender in the basement lounge and the taxidermy everywhere). It was a fun time!!
Too soon?

We played with Vampire Hands last year here in Lincoln. None of them talked to us afterwards, though, so I took that as a sign they either didn't watch us or didn't like us. But we're rad so I'm guessing they were tired and didn't watch us   :D EMOTICON!!!! ;)

The band we were supposed to play with is playing the Turf that night now. I think all we could find on that date was an all-ages, possibly early show. Sucks I know but it's the only day we can make it up there before our singer/guitarist goes on tour with another band he's in (Beep Beep).

Our show is at a place in St. Paul called Eclipse Records.

Any help is awesome!!! We play kinda post-punk Cure/Pixies-type tunes if that turns any cranks.....

Kim Kelly pointed me to the thread.  I am from the Twin cities and don't get on this board much.  I also put out the Vampire Hands record and I am sorry you might have got the wrong impression or whatever from them. They are all really nice guys and I know they had some rough tours with weird drives but regardless, good to hear you are playing in the cities.  You can post on the message board for my label about the show at www.modern-radio.com on the board.  Its pretty active and there are a lot of great bands who post on that forum.  I know I will be in town and try to stop by myself.  I strongly advise making sure to promote the show on the message board and I am happy to answer questions about bands you might hear from.  My email is on the website for our label.  My name is Tom (a very auspicious name).

I promise I am no Fredricks from Newport Richie for better or worse.

Oh no - no ill will towards Vampire Hands! They were on their way down to SxSW. I'm remembering possibly a small-ish crowd and that's a reason for anyone to be bummed out.

Thanks for the help!

Any show at the Turf Club is usually fun.

Good label!  Saw/played with a few Modern Radio bands at house shows back in Indiana, 2003-ish.  Glad to see you still going strong.
