Seattle Vigilantes
« on: November 06, 2009, 03:48:12 AM »
Please listen to this interview with the creator of a Facebook group called the "University District Defenders." It's a group of gun-toting crime-fighting students at the University of Washington. The interview with Stanley starts at 37:30 and runs until about 52:30. Feel free to jump ahead to 46:50 when the interview with Commander Solomon starts.

Highlights:

(38:30) Stanley tells the story of how he stared down and creeped out a guy who was digging for cigarette butts in an ashtray.

(42:00) He admits that his hero is the mentally unstable protagonist from Taxi Driver.

(43:00) His group has no plan for how to use their guns, but they will be receiving training from someone who sent them a Facebook message.

(52:00) Guns are most effective against "knife or axe" wielding criminals, since if the other guy has a gun, it's all about who can draw first.

Oh great, we already have street trash (more than Portland even) and Juggalos.  Now this?

Time to move to Newbridge.

You must admit Seattle Vigilantes sounds like a great band name.

Why would anyone begrudge some poor bastard his awful tobacco leavings?  Smoking those nasty things is punishment enough.

Between this, and only have 50-something people join the "Bring PFT to Seattle" Facebook group so far (like 14 of so I am personally responsible for), I think I might have lost all faith in this fishtown.

Is anyone on this here board active at aspecialthing these days?

They do have a Seattle section on their forum:

I was there kinda recently. I think I pretty much know all the seattle AST'ers off board though, it's not a really active portion of the site the last times I checked. Worth a shot though, THANKS!

If they didn't have guns, I would start the Seattle Vigilante Busters and go get these suckers. I just really don't want to get shot.

I genuinely tried to sign that petition, I couldn't figure out how. I should have started with Facebook before going to Twitter instead of the other way around, because now I'm as dumb as Twitter needs me to be and incapable of learning better.

This is exactly what I thought too.  "Wow, cool band name!"
"Heave Ho!"
