Only a few sleeps to go...
« on: December 19, 2009, 02:27:19 PM »
... until the cinematic release of Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeekwell.

December 21: UK
December 23: US
December 26: AU

I'm not sure I can wait six more days! And although I'm a little concerned that the role of Dave appears to have been severely cut down, it's good to see a Man of Christ (Zach Levi) getting some work in the secular smut pit known as Hollywood.

Anyway, what is everyone's favourite Chipmunk album? Mine would be Club Chipmunk, no doubt.

I'm an old school Chipmunk Punk fan myself.

Although I am grateful to Chipmunk Punk for reviving the franchise, and while I am appreciative of the New Wave gems contained within, as an aficianado of both the Chipmunks and Punk I would have liked to see that album go a little harder.

Perhaps the time is ripe for Chipmunk Punk II - a bit of Chaos 84, some Boston hardcore?

The real thing is so much better.

Was Jason Lee successful in his attempts to get Alvin, Simon, and Theodor to join the Church of Scientology?

Chipmunk Punk was supposed to be a lot harder than the record that was released. It started out as a Simon & Theodore side project, the original demos they recorded include The Stooges, MC5, The Heartbreakers and Dead Boys covers but the label wouldn't touch it without Alvin and Alvin wouldn't set foot in the studio unless Dave produced.  Dave thought the harder stuff wouldn't get airplay and so he dumped the Simon and Theodore stuff and replaced it with the new wave hits. Simon and Theodore laid down vocals for them but did not actually play on any of the songs, that was all done by session chipmunks.

There ain't no business like chipmunk business.

Their 98 LP The A-Files is pretty brilliant too. I think the market was calling out for the Chipmunks' take on FOX smash hit The X-Files.

I probably couldn't have spelt Squeakquel any worse.

My favorite is the soundtrack to the "Chipmunk Adventure." Love it from start to finish. "Boys of Rock & Roll" "Gettin' Lucky" and "Diamond Dolls" are my favorite songs.
Doing it Mentos style.
