Ive taken this one out of the rotation and replaced it with Shut Up Weirdo. It started out pretty strong but fell off.

I bailed out on 7SD a while ago.  It just got so bad.  They get a "B" for being nice guys, but an "F" for effort.  I can't bring myself to even try to listen to these other piles of crap.

I think 7SD has gotten really good since they went to the live variety show format. The real truth, though, like someone else said, is that they're at the best when there's no topic. Andy Breckman is a very funny guy and I just enjoy hearing him talk.

See, I kinda hate those.  Not only are they completely removed from the show's premise (stunt radio, fatal flaw, blah blah blah), Ken and Andy (who I agree is a very funny guy and the reason to listen) get far less time on mic for those shows.  It's lose-lose for me.  But I could just be bitter because I don't care for most of their guests.

I basically agree with you about the guests, especially the musical guests. I enjoy hearing Andy interviewing the folks and struggling with his twin impulses to be his usual rude, wise-cracking self and to be nice to the person who has agreed to help the show (and who is sitting right next to him). I do think he's funny while interviewing the guests, too.

As far as being removed from the show's premise, fair enough. I can't really argue with that point, although I've only been listening for about a year so maybe I'm not as attached to the stunt radio angle as other long-time listeners.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Thanks, A.M.!  And welcome back, Swiss!  I'm still using the name you made up.

I still like 7SD and sometimes listen to The Speakeasy.  I also love The Dusty Show - my second favorite non-music show on FMU and somewhere in my top ten altogether.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I just heard Clay's Thanksgiving episode of the Dusty Show; it was absolutely sublime. I hope his show runs for years more.

Yeah, I'm really loving The Dusty Show, which I started podcasting on the recommendation of someone here. Whoever that was, I thank you.

Has anyone listened to The Rampler? I wasn't aware of it till SSD's "schedule recap" show. I had to turn it off after 10 minutes. Holy moly was it bad. Maybe the apotheosis of the "It's important because I thought it and thus it needs to be written down/recorded" school of blogging/podcasting.

Maybe I just heard a bad stretch. Has anyone else listened and enjoyed it?

Did anyone listen to SSD last night?  I almost spat out my coffee when the parrot interjected "Never happened" when Andy said, "Someone should teach this bird about the Holocaust."  If TvT ever becomes a supervillain, this parrot should be his mount/sidekick.  They'd be a great team.

Yes! I just listened to it at work today, as I was drinking coffee too, coincidentally. I thought that part was hilarious. Another funny moment was when Andy got the parrot to exclaim "Heil Hitler!"

I wish they would do an entire show with Andy and that parrot conversing. The poor audio quality almost made me skip that episode but I'm glad I stuck with it.

Or "Hail Hitler," as Andy would have it.  American Nazi Party, I guess.

I couldn't believe that! (And came to this thread in hopes that someone else had a similar reaction.) I'm kind of genuinely worried about Nazi bird trainers now.

I'm cracking up listening to this Bon Jovi bit on the New Year's Eve episode of Night People.  First time I've gotten around to them and this episode at least is great.

I have listened to that episode too many times to comfortably state on this message board.

"My favorite drink is cocoa. Thanks for asking."

I think what got me hooked was when he goes, "You know what's Latin that I never realized? Chips Ahoy." I about died.
Doing it Mentos style.
