Quandry
« on: September 26, 2010, 05:27:51 PM »
Aimee Mann's here in concert tonight.

I have not secured a ticket.

Worse, I was handed a freelance editing job Thursday that is due Friday at noon, and it's going slow.

I have to be out of town Tuesday and Wednesday on state business.

Which means I essentially have about 20 hours of free time to do what appears to be about 30 hours of work.

I can't stand the thought of missing Ms Mann.

I can't blow this project.

Help me oh FOTdom!

I have always found a way, one way or another, to do the crap I need to do. I'm not saying it would be easy, or that it would be the best thing you ever did, but you know what I mean.

You are such a big fan of AM that I think, if you miss her, you're going to regret it.

Let's say 20 years from now ... are you going to be saying to yourself, "gee I did a good job on that freelance project!" or "Man I am so glad I saw Aimee"?

Go go go go go. The two or three hours you will spend at the show will be infinitely more enjoyable than the hours you would spend sort-of working and wondering if you should have gone.

Do your work.  I believe Tom gave similar advice to someone with a similar quandary not too long ago.

Shirk you responsibilities for some fun. It's what adulthood is all about, right?
Breakfast- I'm havin' a time
Wheelies- I'm havin' a time
Headlocks- I'm havin' a time
Drunk Tank- not so much a time
George St.- I'm havin' a time
Brenda- I'm havin' a time
Bingo- I'm havin' a time
House Arrest- I'm still havin' a time

For the record: I would have gone.  For the first time ever I've been a bad group member on a school project.  I went to a football game instead of working on a paper and I'm feeling bad.  I did more than my fair share on the last one, though.
