I'm almost glad he's gone, in a way.  I can't even imagine what it must be like to suffer from stomach cancer.  I've been a fan since I was in high school, over 20 years ago.

This is sad news. I don't know if I'd consider myself a Dio fan, but I liked his singing and I own several of his recordings. Most of all, this news took me back to my adolescent days when I thought the quiet-to-loud intro to "Last In Line" was the coolest thing ever:
