Thrillington
« on: November 08, 2011, 03:47:35 PM »
Years ago, somebody gave me a load of Paul McCartney bootlegs/rarities as MP3s. Included was an album called 'Thrillington' by Percy 'Thrills' Thrillington. I'd never heard of it, and I never even looked at it until tonight. It turns out to be an album of orchestral easy listening arrangements of the whole of Ram, produced by yer actual Macca himself.

Apparently it was recorded just after Ram, and shelved (due to the underwhelming response to Ram?) till 1977. Interesting to note that Ram is so awesome that even it's own maker recorded a song-for-song cover of it.

I'm listening to it now. It's quite charming. John Barry-esque horns on Monkberry Moon Delight are especially sweet.

I just discovered this one too. "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" is pretty killer.
