Beavis and Butt-head reboot
« on: October 28, 2011, 08:03:42 PM »
Speaking of reboots (http://twitter.com/#!/wallywackiman), did anyone else watch the premiere of the new Beavis and Butt-head? I thought it was surprisingly well done and think the new incarnation might turn out to be just as good, or at least almost as good, as the original series. The voices don't sound different, it's still funny, and the animation looks great. Beavis and Butt-head provide commentary now for reality TV shows as well as music videos, which was jarring at first, but felt natural by the second reality show clip. Favorite parts of the premiere include Beavis and Butt-head wanting to become vampires and werewolves in order to attract chicks, and Butt-head not understanding why the porn-addicted guy on MTV True Life should feel like he has to get a job when he's already fat, has a car, and has access to porn.

If anyone wants to check it out, MTV's streaming the entire premiere on their website: http://www.mtv.com/videos/beavis-and-butt-head-season-9-ep-1-werewolves-of-highland-crying/1673228/playlist.jhtml#series=2211&seriesId=37392&channelId=1

I liked it.

I like how half the time, Beavis and Butt-head actually seem smarter and more jaded than the reality TV people they're making fun of. When Beavis actually rolled his eyes at one of the Jersey Shore guys' "hot salami" jokes and muttered "yeah, he means schlong" with an irritated voice it felt like some weird small watershed in popular culture.

I loved it.

I need to re-visit the movie, which I remember really liking.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

I loved the movie, and I loved the recent show. 'Member? Bruce & Demi did voice overs for the movie, as did a bunch of other people I recall, but those two were the weirdest to jump on board, I thought.

I saw a few episodes of new B&B-h on the weekend. I like their return! Overall. Watching B&B-h control drone planes like it was GTA was very funny. I also thought it was very funny to watch them provide commentary on MGMT ("Whoa, they just gave that girl a poopsicle!") and LMFAO ("We saved the rec center!") videos. I didn't see it in an episode, but if you look on YouTube there's very funny commentary on a Skrillex ("Why don't they dial 911?") video.

I really loved the bit where Beavis was sharing sympathy with the single mom during the call center episode...

Anyone else jump a little when Beavis said that Daria killed herself? I admit to being relieved when Butt-Head corrected him.
