Record Fair 11/2-11/4 - volunteers needed!
« on: October 22, 2012, 11:45:14 AM »
From Scott:

Where've I heard this before?

Sure, sure, it's 2012 -- whatever you say.  Hey, who likes 12" petroleum
discs that trap physical matter which must be transduced via specialized
(and rather clunky) equipment in order to produce really rather pleasing
aural events?  ME TOO!  Wanna hang out?  I know a cool place.

My friends, WFMU's annual horn o'plenty o'records n'shit is due to blast
into town in 2 weeks, so in addition to hiding the good china and leaving
the dog with neighbors, we need to make sure we've got the PEOPLE onhand to
make this thing a proper shindig.  WFMU Record Fair is People.
That's you, and I need to hear from you.

Details:

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, November 2nd, 3rd & 4th
The Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, b/t 6th & 7th Aves, NYC
(same place it's been since The Nineties)

Many many duties need covering -- f'rinstance...

AT WFMU (Jersey-side):
* Load-out Friday am * Load-back-in Sunday night

AT THE PAVILION (NYC):

        * load-in * setting up the Pavilion to our taste *
          hospitality/info * security * ticket booth * front door
admissions * record tables * 'FMU merch tables * amusements *
          A/V Lounge * load-out / cleanup

With the exception of loading and clean-up duties (which are shorter in
duration), shifts run 3 & 1/2 hours and correspond to this schedule:
9:30am-1pm; 12:30-4pm; 3:30-7pm.  And on Friday we go all the way to 10pm.

Questions?  Ask me.

I hope to hear from lots of you real soon!
