We need a good stand alone DVD/CD copier, and NOT the kind that goes thru yr computer.
(We need one that has nothing at all to do with a computer.)

We also DON'T need to make 10 or 50 or 100 DVDs at time, (however the thought of making JUNO  bootlegs does appeal),

but the duplicator doesnt have to make JUST ONE at a time---it CAN make up to say, 3 copies at time, thats ok

Can any of u guys  recommend any models u may have or linx when we can get one. I would really prefer advice from someone who has one or has used the particular model...not just a link online to a place that sells 'em.

Thank u so much!!!!

Are you looking for one that just copies homemade DVDs?  Because no non-computer copier is capable of copying normal commercial DVDs.

This sounds highly illegal and I'll take no part in it.

you might want to ask one of those dudes down on Canal St who sell the 'verite' versions of new theatrical releases.

or, check out these guys (they seem on the up-and-up with the warranties and whatnot)

plus: the chick on the site is pretty hot in a faux-'indie' type way.

The CD part of it is more important than the DVD part of it - we're not looking to bootleg commercial DVDs; just make copies of existing non-commerical ones.

I was thinking about something like THIS:

http://www.duplicatordepot.com/servlet/the-487/DVD-CD-Duplicator-Copier/Detail

They say at the bottom of the page that these players don't copy Protected CDs, but is that true? Really?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Tom.

If they are non-commercial, then there shouldn't be an issue at all with making dupes. I would say, in my novice opinion, that if you were to try and make a copy of some brand-new X-Box game dvds, you would probably run into problems. Same goes with movies. Not that these cannot be copied (anything can), but it would probably take a PC running some shifty clone cd software like Alcohol. I would wager that, unless you are good at hacking (or could find someone who is), you are stuck with the factory firmware that this machine comes with.

This is all just speculation. Maybe post something over at a forum like this one to get the real deal: http://club.cdfreaks.com/

Copy-protected CDs are a weird rarity.  (Most of the schemes didn't really work, because they were really just both audio CDs and computer CDs at the same time that would try to trick your computer into only seeing the computer part, to try to prevent you from ripping the CD.  They also tended to break people's car stereos and computers and were easily worked around.)

So anyway, don't let some weird disclaimer about copy-protected CDs throw you off.  You probably never even touched one.

DVDs are the tricky thing.
