Ever since hearing of the "Toilet Rock" explosion, it occurs to me that this was a real "movement" in music. I'm sure the joke played out in various parts of the world over the years, but I was acquainted with this "scene" in the early '90s in central Florida.
The original bards of Toilet Rock? Probably none other than Gardy-Loo, members of Nasty Savage forming this supergroup in 1990 in Tampa amongst the burgeoning Death Metal acts. The name "Gardy Loo" is taken from the common old shout from days well before indoor plumbing when chamber pots were emptied out the windows into the alleys. "A hailstorm of turds" as the title song proclaims.
Cover art for "Stool Sample" by John Wayne Gacy, making it just that much more unwholesome.

Also on the bill at many of their early shows, Mega Smegma, who recorded a number of sessions near Daytona Beach in the early '90s with Mark Ignoffo, formerly of Chicago, who engineered some of the early Smashing Pumpkins demos.
Later additons to the GL line-up included Il Douché of Mentors infamy.
