A pretty mediocre series, but a great opening sequence.

I love this man:

this was before the whole Hustler ordeal in the 90's, at least I think it was in the 90's, and after that, they changed his screen name to Star Gazer.  Go to this website and be delighted for hours:

Weird, I was just learning that song on piano…

Wow, despite your qualification that does make me want to watch the show.

Let me plug DJ Waldie's awesome book "Holy Land," which is also about the creepy beauty of the suburbs.

The opening segment  is good, but yeah, I can't really get into the show. They have a different person do the song every week-from bigger people like Elvis Costello to lesser-known musicians. My friend Sarah actually did one, but I don't know how to find it.

I haven't seen it in ages, but isn't this basically just a lift from Edward Scissorhands?  At least the shot with the cars pulling out of the driveways, I think.

I think we have a winner with Erika's nomination of the Freaks and Geeks theme. It's the best one.

Every single song in the world should sample that guitar. Even opera.

Sure, the Quincy theme is good, but with lyrics it's GREAT

Freaks and Geeks is one of the best shows ever but I never liked the opening all that much or at least the theme song choice. It doesn't fit with the show.

Michael Shelley has played that Quincy theme with lyrics a few times.

I really like Ricky Gervais' use of melancholy songs for his tv shows:

If I recall correctly, Extras doesn't have an opening song, but uses Cat Stevens' "Tea for the Tillerman" as its closing song.
