The R. Kelly trial
« on: June 06, 2008, 01:23:52 PM »
We all know he's a big creep and there's nothing funny about child porn, but the recaps of what has been going on in the trial kill me.  I realize that this is a few weeks old, but using the cinematic wizardry of Little Man as a defense is one of the all-time greatest courtroom moves. Plus the fact that R. has a Space Jam themed mural of himself is amazing.

I've been thrilling to these on Slate, too - what a treat. They always have good Supreme Court coverage too. Or at least, it’s entertaining without seeming to dumb stuff down (at least, speaking as someone who knows nothing about what makes good or bad legal coverage).

My new favorite part of this has been the addition of Jim DeRogatis as a supporting character. I don’t know about other FOTs, but I can’t stand that guy. Hearing about his obnoxious performance on the stand made me smile this morning. I’ll admit to getting a little tingly with excitement earlier this week when there was talk about swearing out a warrant for his arrest.  His whole schtick playing the besieged reporter defending his rights seems more than a little silly, especially, as the article points out, after publishing all of that potentially-source-revealing info in the Sun Times anyway.

I forget who says it or where it comes up, but I also enjoyed the revelation that R Kelly allegedly carries a duffel bag full of his own sex tapes around with him everywhere he goes.

Seriously - R Kelly is going to go to prison for child pornography.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

Yeah just picturing him waddling away in handcuffs makes me giggle.

Is he the Sound Opinions guy with the flipper arms?  I can't stand him either.

Well that was a disappointment. Not guilty on all 14 charges.

On the plus side...
Now we'll finally get to see:
a) What the package is
b) What deal Sylvester and Joey had worked out for the docks
c) More of Pimp Lucius.

I wish I wasn't so into 'Trapped in the Closet'.

No need to be ashamed. It's a modern masterpiece, up there with John from Cincinatti and The Andy Milonakis Show.

Too bad his grandmother wasn't standing next to him on the tape holding 3 pieces of ID.
