I don't hate George Carlin just because he stopped being funny to me when I got of a certain age and saw some of the flaws in his thinking. There just came a point where I could mentally defend myself against his fancy, pessimistic pimp-patter long enough to realize he wasn't a genius, and I could move on.
What he was, in retrospect, was a hardworking comedian that paved the way for many others, and questioned authority in a time when questioning authority was important, much as it is now (in different ways). 'Old' doesn't exactly equal 'bad', even if it's not relevant enough to be funny anymore. You still have to give the man props for what he had a hand in building, that we all now stand on.
Anyways, all I wanted to say initially was: Brian Regan! Also, PFT is still number one.
