I was determined to do this eventually, but I didn't know it would happen so soon:

THEA 550 Special Topics in Playwriting: Radio Drama (4) Grote
Detailed examination of the golden age of radio drama as well as contemporary international markets for the audio play. Students will receive intensive instruction in the special demands of writing drama for a non-visual medium, and create a new radio drama or comedy ready for recording. Students should familiarize themselves with the Acousmatic Theater Hour and The Dusty Show. Also, students are encouraged to poke around on Joe Frank's website for further examples of the kind of work the instructor plans to create with students. The required “text” for the course is Scharpling & Wurster's CD The Art of the Slap.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Good call.  I could have them listen to all 15,718 episodes while I run out to do some errands.  In Brooklyn.  In the future.

I believe we've discussed Rambling with Gambling before.  I've been making my way through that archive.  Converting some of the old reel-to-reels to a more Zune-friendly format has been trying but I would be happy to lend anyone technical support.  Soon, I'll be putting together a "Rambling Redux" podcast inspired by Best Show Gems.

On a more serious note, I know they don't fit in with the style of the Acousmatic Theater Hour, but I enjoy the old Dimension X and X Minus One programs.

On a seriouser note, what a cool idea for a class, Grote.  Long live radio!
