I just got back from seeing this movie. I really didn't expect much going in but I ended up really liking it almost right away. The soundtrack was great, maybe because I'm kind of a music snob (and started becoming one only a few years after the movie was supposed to take place) but I did say things like "She's not listening to Husker Du" or "They're not playing Crowded House at the amusement park on the 4th of July". But, really, I don't know about any of the terrible shit that plays in movies these days so it was nice to watch a movie about people in their teens/early 20s and hear music that was the soundtrack of that time for me and continues to be. My friend and I found ourselves lowly humming or singing along to some of the music or fist-pumping to The Replacements without realizing it (and I'm a fairly reserved individual). Maybe it's because she's just moved back after 4 years and it felt like we were watching the type of movie we used rent and have fun watching, but it was great. I'm a month from graduation and going nuts and seeing this movie tonight was just what I needed for a break.
And, yes, up with Haverchuck!
