Great songs and funny line changes...
« on: January 20, 2010, 01:31:57 PM »
I always LOL when I imagine the popular Bob Dylan song went: "It ain't me, bitch." Then a friend added: "Ho, ho, ho. It ain't me, bitch."

I'm listening to an archive of Tom pointing out the silliness of "bye-bye." And I liked the idea of "You say bye-bye, I say hello." or "Bye-bye Yellow Brick Road."

My favorite of these I've come up with is, "I'm in the mood for love, simply because I'm horny."

In a similar vein, I'll share this.  My wife's name is Misty.  Sometimes, I'll sing the song "Misty," and, when I get to the line that goes "I feel Misty. . ." I touch her inappropriately and make a beeping noise.

After seeingthis thread a couple years ago on the I Love Music boards, replacing "the sky" with "this guy" in any song has been my favorite lyric-changing game. Always brings a smile to my face.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

Not a great song but I like to think that the background vocals during the chorus in the Sophie B. Hawkins song "As I Lay Me Down" say: "I like tacos!" Listen to it, I'm not sure what it actually is.

Also me and my friends always thought the scatting in episodes of Doug was: "Chicken-pot Chicken-pot Chicken-pot pie."

Nope.  'Cause we're married, I can do that.  Of course, she also gets to kick me in the nuts, so I have to be careful.

I was half listening to the Zach Galiafinakis episode of Marc Maron's WTF podcast while grading papers. Near the end of the podcast the interview ends, and Maron plays a bit of music as a buffer before the next "piece". My ears perk up; it's familiar. It's Neil Young! The volume's low, I recognize the tune, but I don't think I have ever noticed what he is singing, which I am pretty sure is "Haaaaaaaaave......some turkey.".

Turns out it was "Aaaaaaaaalbuquerque".

Damn you...now the worst song ever is stuck in my head with the following alternate lyrics "chicken pot pie, chicken pot pie, chicken pot pie... a double scoop of fruity blue cheese..."

Good video.

The song loses something in the original version.  I believe it's B) Neil Diamond forgetting some of the lyrics and A) "Ohhhhh myyy Gaaaaaaaad."
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Don't know if there are any Avett Brothers fans in here but the idea of "I and Love and Jew" just made me LOL at work.

In rap songs, I like to replace the N-word with something very innocuous and innocent.

"And if you don't know, know you know, buddy!"
"Straight-up, helicopters are beyond fresh."

All through the 9th grade, my friend Isaac and I would play a game where you replace the word "you" with "Jew" in any pop song ever. Works every time. Try it!

As a veteran praise band player (me and Bonnie are going to form an FOT supergroup some day), we like to use the South-Park trick of taking banal pop songs and replacing "baby" with "Jesus". So, you know, Oooooooh, love to love you Jesus.....Jesus come back any kind of fool could see I was wrong and I just can't live without you.....Hit me Jesus one more time.....Jesus I love your way.....I got you Jeez.

Some of them are harder to make work; Jesus got back? Santa Jesus? When something is wrong with my Jesus something is wrong with me.

Yes, the moment of clarity the ND gets when he says  "Ohhhhh myyy Gaaaaaaaad" is timeless...and hilarious.
