Admittedly, I am of an age where I grew up loving him on "Make Me Laugh." He was the clean-up hitter. Person hasn't laughed yet? Bring in Gallagher. And compared to the other guys they brought out, Gallagher was funny. But then again, I was 10 when I had this opinion.
Now I am 40, and I am reading these articles and watching these clips and I am sad to see the man he has become. He rants against mediocrity and then complains that people don't follow the "right, moral" way to act? He interrupts warm-up comedians because they might steal his words and topics, and because they are HIS props? Ew brother.
Perhaps when the day comes and God smashes Gallagher with his cosmic mallet, we will look back and re-evaluate Gallagher as comedy's G.G. Allin.
Wait. That will never happen.
