So I saw Sebadoh this weekend and they were really really GOOOD.  I read some dude bitch about them on Stereogum.  That there was too much Gaffney.  He got mad that they played "Moldy Bread"!  He never heard of it and couldn't imagine anyone being excited about it.  I was excited about it!  How dare you.

True, there was a lot of Gaffney material.  I don't know, I thought it ruled.  Come on, Scars, Four Eyes was the second song!  You still got all the Lou Barlow hits: "Brand New Love", "Soul and Fire", they even did "Too Pure".  Jason's showing was maybe less up-to-snuff.  He seems to have lost like fifty pounds and is sort of  scary looking now.  Like a sinewy, late-thirties Eddie Furlong.  Still, he did "Sixteen".  Fucking "Emma Get Wild" was awesome.  I never expected to see half these songs played live.

If you're a big "Harmacy" fan then this is not the Sebadoh for you.  It's a very III, Smash Your Head..., and Bubble and Scrape heavy set, with some Freed Man stuff thrown in too.  Fuckin' "Ladybugs" dude!

Gaffney seems like he probably really is an asshole, but Lou Barlow's kind of an asshole too.  Lou Barlow talked shit about J. Mascis for like 15 years until they reunited!  Come on!  One love.

Seriously, the show was great.  I reccomend checking them out, especially if you're like me and actually LIKE the gaffney touch and felt its absence painfully obvious in later Sebadoh stuff.
