FOT SXSW meet up?
« on: March 10, 2007, 11:10:36 AM »
I don't know if Tom is going to be in town but I talked to some folks on the FOT chat on Tuesday and the idea was thrown around about having a FOT get together. I live in Minneapolis so the ones Tom has set up are impossible for me to make but it would be good to meet some folks down in Austin next week.  Mr. Chnklt mentioned the idea of having it be somewhere around the awesome show he is setting up with a ton of comedians and bands on the 16th and 17th.  Any ideas, thoughts, or whatever?

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but Jon Wurster is supposed to be performing (comedy) at The Onions free day party Thursday at Emo's. The comedians start at 5, including: Michael Showalter, Aziz Ansari, Leo Allen, Paul Scheer, Jon Wurster.

There's also a bunch of bands, but I don't recognize any of them.

I was going to say that I'm jealous, but you know what? DJ Lolo is representing Miami for all of us loser Miamians who couldn't make it and can look forward to Another Shitty House Music Catastrophuck. Well, at least there's an open bar somewhere in my future. And a pile of cocaine, I'm sure, in someone else's future. Eurotrash or Brooklyn trash visitors with $435 WMC badges or $399 Ultra Fest Badges or however much it costs to see The Cure headline some stupid glowstick party alongside a bunch of thumpy thump DJs. I've never been to Ultra, so I can't judge, but I'm sure it sucks.

So, yes, one half of Sweat Records, admittedly a half I do not know very well or even at all, is in Austin and will hopefully bring home good bands to play in the South Florida. They've been very good about that, quite frankly. They're on my good side for eternity since they gave me the opportunity to see Kimya Dawson live and in person. Kimya hugged me! She gives good hugs.

I'm jealous. I want to be in Austin, TX, y'all.
