Theme music on repeat
« on: March 22, 2007, 11:41:50 PM »
I got turned on to Tom and the show after reading a Ted Leo interview awhile back. I'm a huge fan of Phil Hendrie so this is right up my alley.

I like everything about the show cept one small detail. Well, not so small I guess cause it kinda bugs the hell out of me.

When Tom is doing his monologue why does he insist on playing that annoying background theme music on continuous loop?

That bed music makes me think of Officer Tom cruising the streets of Newbridge. I like it. It's a nice change.

Tom likes the pauses, and if theres no bed music a dead-air alarm will go off in Ken Freedmans house, where it's rigged to his wallace-and-grommit style bed.

I totally and completely love the bed music. I wish there was a definitive list of the bed music bits used.

Lately he's been using a sample from "The Champ" by Ghostface.

darn,

I saw this thread and was hoping it was someone asking about the recent bed music used during week 2 of the marathon (and Tom also used it during the "recovery" part of the last show).  It's not the stuff taken from "The Champ" that another poster referred to, right?  I'm pretty certain it isn't.

I've had this tune in my head constantly since the marathon and would love to know who it is and how to get a hold of it, that is if it's not another Tom Scharpling original, like "Tom's Theme II" or something like that.  Aparently, some weirdoes on that pretentious Thrill Jockey label have taken credit for a song that is strikingly similar to the first.

Is it Evan "Funk" Davies's normal bed music?

I could be wrong about "The Champ"... I'm thinking it might be that other song from Fishscale.  But damned if I'm going to actually cross-reference these things.
