Clifford on Fake Criterion
« on: March 03, 2011, 09:13:44 PM »
I know Tom's spoken of starting a campaign for Clifford to get the Criterion treatment. I wondered if a fan of the Best Show made this:

I want a Cabin Boy Criterion first.

that blog would be so much better if there was continuity to the designs. a lot of those are just shitty graphic design that looks nothing like a criterion cover. you'd think the joke rests primarily on that one idea and there'd be some kind of benchmark. do they just post anything people submit? why are there like 30 drive angry covers of varying levels of design? why not just pick one or two that actually look like they could be real?

I don't know why this annoys me so much. i'm not a graphic designer but really hate bad photoshop. it's like everyone with a pirated copy of photoshop thinks they're so fucking clever.

the same anger goes towards youtube "comedy" skits.

p.s. i'm just waiting for someone to post a link to the fucking crap i made for the video and art contest and make me look like an asshole. hahaha

Yes, the Best Show was definitely a consideration in posting that one.

And as to the Drive Angry covers- it was just a week of throwing the floodgates open, because it's such an insane film and it was being featured on How Did This Get Made? podcast, which I enjoy. Also- I was curious to see if people would play along and send them in. Might try it with specific directors or other themes in the future.

Thanks for posting it!

I agree with this.

It just seems like the font selections are so rush and unrelated to any irony that the movie being on criterion should have. I don't know what would've made the Clifford cover great but it seems like a better title font would be a good start. Hell they could use the original.

Just doing it for fun and not spending too much time on it.

This one- tried to find a font to make it seem like some suspense/horror film.

I would like to see a fake criterion of the forthcoming Best Show DVD after it comes out.

The cover for that should be a parody of this image:
