The idea of calling makes me crazy nervous.  But more than that, what stops me is that I mostly don't feel there's a bloody thing I can contribute.  So I kibitz in the chat instead.  I've always been a back-room kind of gal.

I always get nervous, but I like to call from my office instead of from my cellphone because I can sort of keep my workday gameface of competence and charm on (even if it's a lie).

Does anyone else get hella nervous right before they call?  I can't take it.  I don't want to ruin something I love.  I feel inadequate compared to the Best Show.

If the chat hadn't convinced me to call, I wouldn't have. I'm glad Tom liked me though. Glad I didn't get GOMPed, that's for sure. :) I was nervous up until I talked to him. He's easy to talk to though, so I loosened up right away.

Have a drink or two before you call.  It worked for me!

Hey, maybe I really ought to mix in some vodka with the diet coke with lime!

I've only called once (I'm in the Pacific Northwest and have to listen to Fresh Air or some such nonsense as I make my way home).  The weird thing for me is that Tom's voice sounds so different through the phone. In the same way that Wurster's voice sounded completely strange when he did the in-studio Bruce Willis Raging thing.  If you haven't called before, I recommend you listen to Tom's interview on the Sound of Young America.  His voice is PROFOUNDLY different than the one you hear on air. He sounds like "Steve" from the Pizza Grudge segment in 2004.

I got GOMPed, and it was a badge of honor! If I could put the recording into a locket, I would do so. People, it's about the fun.  Just call, for cripes sake!  Tom wants your input. You -- and I do mean YOU -- are absolutely necessary for the health of the Best Show.

In particular, I would love to hear Sarah call. (Because you know Godine.  Therefore, you are a rockstar).

Yeah man, I've gotten GOMP'd a bunch.  It is kind of a badge of honor.  The best is when you get GOMP'd and then he cops to just doing it for the hell of it and he actually wouldn't have minded talking to you some more (didn't he do that to someone named Chris on Tuesday?).

I think he did to Sean from Burbank this week.  Mine was the opposite: he didn't GOMP me but he'd had enough.
