Fredericks' Den
« on: November 25, 2009, 08:42:31 AM »
Tom,

Thanks for making room for Ben and me.

Most important, thanks for giving me chance to interact with your audience.
What a fascinating bunch of callers (even Larry).

The truth is:  You have created a unique and entertaining space on the airwaves.
I appreciate your generosity and willingness to share it.

Ahoy Skipper,

Fredericks

Froxie - I am so deeply sorry I fell asleep on the couch before your show started. I've just started the archive, so I should be hitting your show, oh, in about 3 hours.

And thank you Fredrick's for allowing me to join you on the adventure. You were a joy to share the airwaves with!

Sleep is important Auntie.

Yeah, Ben maybe we can do it again.  Tom willing.

Good show, Fredericks.

Next time, I suggest that you delve into the truth about free improvisation. If there is a next time.

Kierkegaard, was that the philosopher you guys were trying to discuss?

Is that a question or an answer?

When Tom said "you may have created a monster!" your response was priceless: "Oh, that's okay, I've done that before". Love it.

Also, I was reminded of something that came up when you talked about not winning any awards; didn't Tom say you should remind him about a possible new category for this year: was it Longest Tear, or Weirdest Tear?

It was Descartes. Kierkegaard wrote a paper called God's Existence Cannot Be Proved. It's an important part of his theism. It's a good one!

Weirdest Hair.  As I recall.

I still don't know how he knew.

Fredericks,

I was on the line with a story but I could not get on before you and Ben signed off (my wife took over the household calling duties and spoke to Tom a short while later).  I was calling to share how I learned the truth about Santa.  When I was 7 my mother enlisted me to help her shop for my brother and sister. When I say shopping I mean shoplifting. I was pretty sure that if there was a Santa, stealing would get us on the bad list so after we made I out of the store I asked and got the truth. There was no Santa.

That story was beautiful, touching and truthful.

Thanks for sharing.

Hmmmmm......

From John Waters' Role Models, on a ride he took with his friend "Jake":

Quote
He strapped a video camera to the hood of his car and we drove around while he filmed us smashing through piles of old dead Christmas trees that residents had left in the alleys and he would set on fire.
