Greggulator Imposter on Shut Up Weirdo

Gregg someone called SUW last Friday and said he was you yet I'm 99.9% sure it wasn't. Can you confirm? And besides Dave, Spike and Fredricks I think most FOTs tend to bite it when they call in other shows. Especially when they plug the best show.

I have no idea what SUW is! That's hilarious that somebody's impersonating me, albeit terrifying.

I got my start as a kid calling in Chris T's Aerial View. There was a group of us that used to prank his show non-stop. Matador Records/Can't Stop the Bleeding guru Gerard Cosloy used to be his co-host. He got so mad at us that he gave out my phone number over the air. I also got grounded because someone from WFMU called my mom and let her know what I was doing.

In high school and college, I grew an actual appreciation for Chris T., who is still one of the best guys at WFMU. I also felt lingering guilt and used to volunteer a bit when it was still in East Orange and stuff T-Shirts and the like.

This may be why I may be handling the ban pretty well.

I need to listen to this Shut Up, Weirdo today. Who would call in impersonating me? WTF? That's so absurd.

I have mixed feelings about Chris T. I love his show for the most part but do think it would greatly benefit by being longer. However the financial shows bore me to death and sometimes I get the feeling that he is a really jerky guy. Pictures don't help, he looks kinda mean. And I've listened back quite a ways and over the years he has badmouthed Tom a few times. I think about the time Petey and Tom were doing prank patrol and Petey kept asking Tom to call Chris T and Tom kept telling him no.  Not sure if there is bad blood there. But he has great shows about music and movies and he did this one show a while back that was an hour of him arguing with this caller who was trying to sell fmu a box of old records.

I love Chris, (and I know people who know him and say he's a big sweetheart) but I think he's getting a little cranky in his old age. He's doing a lot of shows currently on this political Dark Age we're in, and he really has difficulty bringing the funny to those--seems to get stalled at just a kind of exasperated sarcasm.  Way back before the Best Show, though, he was about the funniest thing on WFMU (well, him and the Vanilla Bean). In the archive, he recently put up an old show that really shows him at his storytelling best: "How Debbie Got Her Spots."

As for the  impostor: Did he come off well, or was this someone trying to darken the Greggulator's name?

Somebody just said they were me and said something dumb and then plugged The Best Show.

I didn't know that Gerard Cosloy ran CSTB. That's awesome.

The Fake Greggulator call is at the 17:45 mark. The impostor doesn't try to sound like the Greggulator or even do much to sully the Greggulator's good name. It's pretty sad.

Also, Spike calls in at the 7:30 mark. I don't know how I feel about Frangry calling him "Spikey."

Spike calls in pretty much every week. Frangry has good control over him and can shoo him away well. His calls to SUW are a bit edgier than to the BS (Friday's call) and they can even be weirder.

You also can (rarely) get a glimpse ointo Spike's personal life.

Anyone listen to I'm Worth It and think that the call-in volume is way too low? It sucks because I'm listening at work and I can't have Frangry throwing around filth-talk at loud volume while my coworkers are walking by my desk.
