Paul Collins kicked off his own tour!
« on: March 22, 2012, 07:17:28 PM »
"Paul Collins has been dismissed from the tour we were doing together. He was continually abusive to the band and others supporting the tour, and when I stuck up for them, he repeatedly showered me with loud abuse. That road doesn't go through anymore. This is a problem that went back to day 1 of the tour and never improved for long but got worse. It's amazing that we were able to get through as many shows as we did. Believe me, it was difficult. He is misrepresenting on fb how he was left: the fact is he was paid off in full, and had more than enough resources to fly anywhere on the US, and in fact had more than me and the band put together. I'm still on tour to pay off some of the debts the tour accrued, and I think he was more than fairly dealt with given the facts if the situation. The Nerves didnt work out in the seventies and they couldnt now. I wish him well in all things, but we have to be on separate paths. Onward and upward." - Peter Case

I'm glad I caught this show before it imploded!

Last Thursday I saw Tommy Stinson. Tim Schweiger - who plays in Paul Collins' band - was part of Tommy's band. According to Tim's Facebook page he's part of Peter's band for the remaining dates of the tour.

This is really sad. These were some of the more high profile gigs that Paul has had in recent years, after spending 2-3 years re-building his rep. in the US after living in Europe for many years. I'm guessing that the tour was booked by Case's agent, so they were "his" dates and he was able to toss Collins?

I agree, it's really sad. I saw him twice last year, playing to really small crowds, so it was really great to see his show in Austin last week, playing for hundreds of really enthusiastic fans, all dancing and going crazy. I thought "he must be so happy! He's finally connecting!" Also Bill Murray was there and introduced them!!! It was so weird. But yeah when the tour started you could tell that it was going to be a tough road, just from watching the interaction between Paul & Peter on stage.

Rough stuff!
