Wafflestomper
« on: November 30, 2012, 11:38:27 AM »
On the November 20th show, a caller mentioned a set on the Best Show by a band called Wafflestomper.  I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them.  I saw a band called Wafflestomper play with Man or Astroman? in 1996 and I swear they were from the Pacific Northwest.  The Wafflestomper band on the Best Show was from Jersey.  There are two scenarios that seem equally unlikely (at least to me):
  • There are/were two bands called Wafflestomper
  • They are the same band but somewhere between 1996 and 2002 they moved from the Pacific Northwest to Jersey.
It's tough finding anything about them (or either of them) online.  I did find a CD called 'Berol Giant' and I think that is by the one that I saw in 1996.

The NJ band is The Waffle Stompers.

I found a Waffle Stomper from Middle Town, CT: http://www.reverbnation.com/wafflestomper

I lived in Seattle in the mid/late 90s and was active in the musical goings-on up there. I don't recall a band called Wafflestomper. I saw MoAM? several times, mostly at RKCNDY. Bands I recall opening for them: Pulsars; Delta 72; and Famous Monsters.

Is the name "Wafflestomper" a reference to the NickToon Doug?

Here's something that I somehow missed:
Wafflestomper – Free listening, concerts, stats, & pictures at Last.fm

This has to be them.  Subsonics played the show too... who I think were from Atlanta.

Well, a year and a half later...Wafflestomper was my high school band from New Providence, NJ. We played three shows - one at the Hamilton Street Cafe and Stage in Bound Brook, one in a friend's backyard, and one at our high school battle of the bands. Not sure if I have any recordings saved anywhere, but we were most certainly not the other bands referenced in this thread. Being on the Best Show was pretty much the high point of our lives up to that point. Would love to get a downloadable version of that episode - anybody know how?
