Buddy Swales was how I always heard it.  And I am from the South, so deciphering fake Southern accents comes naturally to me.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

I am pretty sure that is from an early episode called "Tom blows the lid off the XFL"

PRETTY SURE.

Yep.  2/27/01 - about 1:10:00 in.
I'd always thought that clip was Wurster, but it ain't!

Thanks buffcoat, you're right (It's at 1:44 in that show, for the record).  Who played Gerald Perlmutter?

I believe it's the elusive Jon Glaser.

That show is, in fact, almost entirely composed of the three early contributors to the best show - Wurster, Benjamin and Glaser.

The Glaser bit is excellent, as they all three are.  It's funny to hear the three different styles right in a row.

That was my original suspicion, but he sounds a bit like Sam Seder when he's breaking down, so I thought it might've been him.  I agree that it's an excellent call.

While we're discussing the opening, does anyone know the origin of "Thuuuuuuuuhhhh"

Sorry if it's already been posted somewhere.  I tried searching for the word "the".  I'm an idiot.

Here's my question on the opening... (maybe previously discussed??)

Does the song intentionally "zing" Petey (by not including him)?  Yes, Petey's 'role' in the show has certainly evolved over time, but if I were making a list of voices to include in a BestShow compilation of greetings, Petey would be near the top of the list -- no?

PLUS -- the song includes "Petey from the future", Tom mockingly intoning, "I'm going to bed now Faffer" and even somebody else named Peter.  (no speakers here at work -- going from memory -- am I wrong?)

or is he there and I never noticed?

"Alright, well, for the sake of this conversation, let's say the book does not exist."
