August 07, 2012 - the first ever Bad Company episode. The recent YouTube supercut doesn't have this, but one caller realizes he's about to get Bad Company'd and asks Tom, "You're not going to Bad Company me, right?" Tom immediately fades it down.

At least I think this happened in that episode.
Everyone's talking about that computer fight.

The Order of Everything: Truck Nutz:  https://wfmu.org/flashplayer.php?version=2&show=27622&archive=100837  It is at the 1:48:10 mark (Well, Tom reads the list so far at that point and then the call starts).

This is worth it because I'm pretty sure it is the first time Tom ever totally lost it on the air.

December 4, 2007

Tom spends the first part of the show talking about how much he disliked the movie I'm Not There. A caller phones in to tell Tom that she paid $20 to see it at a film festival, has seen it a second time, and wants to see it a third time. She then starts explaining what the film is supposed to be about and asks Tom why he didn't like the movie? Tom gets frustrated because he just spent a half hour talking on-air about why didn't like it. He ends the call by turning the caller into a ghost.

oh. my. gosh.

I had completely forgotten about the ghosting of callers period. Simply being reminded of it made me stop, hunch and stifle in the workplace.

Today is the anniversary of the deaths of Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley. Remember when Chubby Checker took over the first hour of Best Show on April 6, 2004 to pay tribute to grunge?

August 4,2009:Mary-Anne,a kindergarten teacher, offers Tom a gig as a puppeteer.

Tom:You're not teasing me with this call, because you know I'm a puppeteer.?
Mary-Anne:What kind of puppets do you operate with?
Tom:What kind of puppets don't I operate with is the question!

Tom:My uncle Gorph was a member of Mummenschanz.
Mary-Anne:No!!!!
Tom:Yes!He was the one with the toilet paper attached to his face. That's where I got my love of puppetry.

Possibly the first example of puppetry on The Best Show.

November 7, 2000 Alan Lieberman (Sam Seder).  May be my favorite call as it was so ridiculous and I'm not 100% sure that Sam wasn't taking what Alan was taking.

Can someone who has uploaded clips for this project DM me the links to the Google Doc and the page where we were uploading .wav files? I thought I still had Jason's initial email saved somewheres, but apparently not.

From February 20, 2007: A dude who immediately gets GOMP'd for complaining about being on hold. Tom then makes fun of him (listen closely for Mike cracking up in the background).

The ultimate hangup on Capt. Jack.

2004-10-12 - Call starts at 2:53:30 - hangup at 2:54:30. Jack being unusually(?) maniacal.

"It's all yours."

"I got one thing I want to say!"

"What's that?"

"Gimme o - (call ends)"
