Trying to sell my comic book collection...
« on: November 09, 2017, 06:59:11 PM »
I just got my collection from out of storage and I was wondering if any FOTs had experience selling.

The collection is mostly 1980-1992, mostly Marvel with some DC, Image and Dark Horse. I've sold a few things already based on what's happening currently (sold The Tick #1 bc the Netflix series is coming out, sold some New Mutants with Cable bc of the Deadpool movie, etc). But I've put some great stuff on eBay, too, with a surprisingly lukewarm response. I do realize the bottom sort of dropped out of the collecting world a decade ago.

Anyway, any tips on selling? Seems like most comics shops will give you next to nothing. I live in Brooklyn so I'm hoping proximity to other comics people means I could possibly sell some in person.

Here's a list if you're interested, with some pricing according to what I've been seeing on eBay. All books were bagged and boarded at the date of purchase and are in VF or NM condition.

I think some of the prices listed are for CGC graded comics?
Books from this era are a tough sell.
So many copies were printed.
Pretty much  all those issues have swam in the .25 bins.
Even the in demand Deadpool issues were in the bins.

Are these the only comics you have? Can you make a long issue run "lot"?

I've got a collection from mid 80s to early 90s.  I'm back into going to the shops now after a 20 year hiatus, and noticed a couple things.
Bad news: ditto previous comment.  For example I just bought a NM Silver Surfer #50 from the $1 bin.
Good news:  Depending on recent film/toy/tv/whatever trends some individual issues of the series you have there will spike to over $100 levels if you strike quickly.  I see (seemingly random to me) issues of Uncanny X-Men on the wall for $120 and think "hey I have that" Then the owner explains why that issue is spiking at the moment.
