I don't understand
« on: August 03, 2007, 10:34:07 AM »
This morning I got an e-mail from g6gk.g4gk@gmail.com addressed to g6gk.g4gk@gmail.com.  Why?  How?  I'm puzzled.

Well, your address could have been in the "cc:" or "bcc:" field of the e-mail. You know, like when you send an e-mail to more than one person.

Nope.  There was a single addressee, with no copies.

Who want me to back up my files:

Quote
Mozy is definitely the best online data backup service around. I have
been using Mozy and I am very impressed, the best thing about it is that
you don't notice that it is there, it backs up your files without
interrupting your work and in case of a disaster (lets hope this won't
happen), you can easily restore your files. It's free, 2GB automated
backup of all your photos, musics, and documents.
You can schedule daily or weekly backups or you can let the automatic backup happen.

I HIGHLY recommend using this, If you decide to sign up then use
my referal code QP55FG and we BOTH get an extra 256MB free.
https://mozy.com/?ref=QP55FG if you want the link.

Best regards,
Shameem Ahmed

Needless to say, I have not rushed to follow Mr. Ahmed's recommendation.

But if it's a "BCC", you will only see the one email address in the "To" field.

So a spammer sent spam to himself and blind-carboned (or "copied," I suppose I should say) it to countless others?  Yeah, that would explain it.  Darn it.  I wanted it to be truly mysterious.

That sounds like a threat.
